The mission of the Isla Vista Community Network IVCN is to foster and maintain a committed network of people and organizations who strive to improve and enhance the quality of life in Isla Vista. The participants build and strengthen relationships with one another, share information and resources, and initiate cooperative action in response to current and emerging needs in Isla Vista. The Isla Vista Community Network participants reflect broad community representation with combined decades of experience in the Isla Vista community.
The 3, square-foot building offers several programs for teens in Isla Vista. Its main purpose is to serve as a safe place for teens to go to after school to get away from gang activities, alcohol and other drug use. For years, students who frequented the Isla Vista Teen Center had to study in a dilapidated modular classroom in Estero Park, its leaky roofs and crumbling entry ramp in a state of continuous disrepair. The broken-down building became an official thing of the past on Tuesday, November 18, as a construction crew broke ground at Estero Park for the new St. George Family and Youth Center, a much improved 3,square-foot facility slated for a February opening date.

George Youth Center has been serving Isla Vista and Goleta youth and families sinceproviding a safe, fun, alternative space for teens during the high risk after-school hours. Our goal is to create a space where all youth and teens feel safe, supported and empowered to be the best version of themselves. The youth center is located next to beautiful Estero Park in Isla Vista with access to large grass field and basketball courts.
